We collect very little, and what we do collect exists so that we can quote your project, deliver your sourcing report, and run the site. We do not sell personal data.
Last updated: this policy takes effect on publication. If we change how we handle personal data, we update this page and the date above.
Who we are
This site is operated by getchinasourcing.com, a China sourcing agency serving overseas importers. Our full legal entity name and registered address are published in the site footer and on our contact page. For any question about this policy or your personal data, contact us at the address given there.
What we collect
Information you give us
- Quote requests. Name, work email, company, destination market, buyer type, and the product details you submit — specifications, quantity, target price and delivery window.
- Sourcing tool. Your search terms and your email address, if you ask for the full report to be sent to you.
- Account. If you open your report via the emailed link, an account is created holding your email address and your saved reports. There is no password to store.
- Correspondence. Anything you send us by email or messaging during a project.
Information collected automatically
- Technical data. IP address, browser and device type, referring page, and pages viewed. Used to run the site, to rate-limit the sourcing tool against automated abuse, and to understand which pages are useful.
- Cookies and similar technology. Strictly necessary cookies keep you signed in and enforce rate limits. Any analytics or marketing cookies are only set with your consent, and you can withdraw it at any time.
We do not knowingly collect data from children, and this site is not directed at them.
Why we use it, and on what basis
| Purpose | Data used | Legal basis |
|---|---|---|
| Preparing and sending your sourcing plan or quotation | Contact and product details | Steps taken at your request before entering a contract |
| Delivering sourcing tool reports and opening them again later | Email, search terms, report data | Your consent, and performance of the service you requested |
| Running a sourcing project you have engaged us for | Contact, order and shipping details | Performance of a contract |
| Keeping the site and tool available and free from abuse | Technical data | Our legitimate interest in security |
| Improving the site and understanding which pages help | Analytics data | Your consent |
| Meeting accounting, tax and trade-compliance obligations | Transaction records | Legal obligation |
Marketing email
Requesting a quote or a sourcing report does not subscribe you to marketing. If you opt in separately, every message includes an unsubscribe link that works immediately, and unsubscribing never affects a project already under way.
Who we share it with
We do not sell personal data and we do not share it for third-party advertising. We share it only with:
- Service providers who operate parts of the service under contract — hosting, email delivery, analytics and the product-data gateway that powers the sourcing tool. They may only process data on our instructions.
- Suppliers and logistics partners, where necessary to execute a project you have engaged us for. We pass the minimum needed — typically a shipping address and product specification, not your commercial terms.
- Authorities, where required by law, including customs and trade-compliance requirements.
Our operations are based in China and our service providers may be located in other countries. Where personal data is transferred out of the region it was collected in, we rely on appropriate safeguards, including standard contractual clauses where applicable.
What we do with your product enquiries
Product specifications you send us are commercially sensitive, and we treat them that way. They are used to source your project and are shared with candidate suppliers only to the extent needed to obtain a quotation. We do not publish them, and we do not use one client's specification to serve another.
How long we keep it
- Quote requests that do not become projects: retained while there is a live conversation, then deleted.
- Sourcing tool reports: the emailed access link expires after a limited period; saved reports remain in your account until you delete them or close the account.
- Project records: retained for the duration of the engagement and afterwards for as long as accounting, tax and trade-compliance rules require.
- Technical logs: retained for a short period for security and abuse prevention.
Your rights
Depending on where you live, you may have the right to access the personal data we hold about you, to correct it, to have it deleted, to restrict or object to how we use it, to receive it in a portable format, and to withdraw consent at any time. Where marketing is concerned, you can opt out at any time regardless of location.
To exercise any of these, contact us using the details in the footer. We will respond within the period required by the applicable law. If you are in the UK or EU and are not satisfied with our response, you may complain to your national data protection authority.
Security
We use access controls, encrypted connections and limited internal access to protect personal data. Account access to sourcing reports is by emailed link rather than a stored password. No system is perfectly secure, and we will notify you and the relevant authority where required if a breach affects your data.
Other sites
Pages here may link to third-party sites, including supplier platforms and shipping trackers. We are not responsible for their privacy practices, and this policy does not cover them.
Changes to this policy
We update this page when our practices change. Material changes affecting how we use data you have already given us will be notified by email where we hold one for you.
